Erciyes University Medical Faculty Hospitals Central Laboratory has been providing service in the building built by Gülser and Dr. Mustafa Gündoğdu since September 2008. The units within the Gülser - Dr. Mustafa Gündoğdu Comprehensive Service Laboratory are Biochemistry, Bacteriology, Serology, Metabolism, Immunology and Hematology Laboratories and Sample Acceptance and Classification Unit. Laboratory services are carried out by a total of 71 technical personnel and 7 secretaries working in the Central Laboratory Units. Uninterrupted laboratory service is provided 24/7 in the Gülser - Dr. Mustafa Gündoğdu Comprehensive Service Laboratory:
• During working hours; outpatient clinic patients are directed to the Sample Collection Units located in Gevher Nesibe Hospital, Yılmaz-Mehmet Öztaşkın Heart Hospital and Mehmet Kemal Dedeman Oncology Hospital to provide biological samples such as blood, sputum and urine, and the biological samples collected in these Centers are delivered to the Central Laboratory by a pneumatic system. Central Laboratory - Biological samples collected in the Sample Acceptance and Sorting Unit are separated according to the laboratory where they will be studied and directed to the relevant laboratory unit(s).
• Samples taken from patients receiving inpatient treatment in clinics are sent directly to the Central Laboratory by pneumatic system at any time of the day.
• Samples taken from patients applying to the Emergency Department are also sent directly to the Central Laboratory by pneumatic system at any time of the day.
In Central Laboratory Units; bacteriological examinations, biochemistry tests, CBC and urine analyses are performed at any time of the day; tests performed in Metabolism and Hematology Laboratories are performed during working hours.
In Central Laboratory Units registered to External Quality Control Programs such as UK NEQAS and RİQAS, all tests are performed in accordance with these control programs and daily control values are recorded for each test. Daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of the devices are performed by the relevant Medical Laboratory Unit technicians under the control of the technical services of the companies. Daily temperature checks of electronic devices such as refrigerators, incubators and freezers in the Central Laboratory are performed and records are kept.
